Șantier
Every photo taken on site lands on its job.Imported work orders, before and after photos, extra work approved from the office.
/ About the project
Work orders arrived as spreadsheets, with dozens of lines split by room. Workers sent photos over WhatsApp with messages like “finished the upstairs room”, and the manager wasted time guessing which room, which job and from whom. At invoicing time, the before and after proof for each job was missing or impossible to find, and extra work got forgotten or went unpaid.A phone app for the workers and a web dashboard for the manager, where every photo finds its own job by itself. Șantier is Romanian for “construction site”.
/ Project details
Name:Construction site app for CVC
Client:CVC
Industry:Construction
Timeline:Since October 2026
Status:In development
Outcome:No photo can be taken outside a job any more, and the status of every line comes from the photos, not from what someone remembers

/ The challenge
People on site have dirty hands, weak signal and zero patience for forms. You can't ask a painter to fill in fields or pick statuses; if the app asks for more than a photo, they're back on WhatsApp the next day. At the same time, the manager needs complete proof on every line of the work order in order to get paid. The photo had to be the only thing asked of the worker.
/ What we built
Work order import
The manager uploads the spreadsheet received from the client and the app creates the project with its rooms and jobs, with the codes and quantities from the order. Nobody retypes jobs by hand and no lines go missing.
Photos tied to the job
The worker opens the job, picks the room and the task, and the camera opens already set to them. The “after” photo marks the task done, with time and location, with no field to fill in.
Extra work and approval
When something unexpected comes up, the worker takes a photo and a voice note, and the manager approves it from the office. The approved task shows up in the worker's list and stays separate at invoicing.

/ How it works
In the morning, the worker sees a single job: the one the manager assigned to them. They take the “before” and “after” photos on each task, and the app uploads them on its own when there's signal, with room, task, time and location attached. The manager sees on the web what's done, what's in progress and what's waiting for their decision, with the photos in their place.
/ Tech stack
React Native
The same app runs on iPhone and Android, so every worker uses it on their own phone and the company doesn't buy new devices.
Node.js
The server side is written in a widespread language that any developer can maintain, so the company doesn't depend on a single person.
PostgreSQL
A free and very stable database, installed on the company's own server. Data and photos stay with CVC, with no monthly subscriptions to external services.
